Data is a scarce and expensive resource, often collected with public funding. Because of a lack of long-term archiving or adequate documentation, many data producers lost and keep on losing data which thus can be used neither by themselves nor by others.

PROGEDO, through CESSDA France department, focuses on the issue of archiving, documentation and dissemination of French data for research in social science.
