Quetelet-Progedo

Quetelet-Progedo is the repository and data catalogue of ProgedoIR*, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the CNRS. Quetelet-Progedo is jointly operated with the French National Institute for Demographic Studies (INED) and offers more than 1,600 data sets. ProgedoIR* is responsible for developing and maintaining Quetelet-Progedo, in partnership with the Easter-eggs team. The platform has been developed thanks to the collaboration with the DBnomics teams. It relies on the server infrastructure of Huma-NumIR*.

The Quetelet-Progedo catalogue is harvested by the CESSDA Data Catalogue and recognised as a reference repository by Recherche Data Gouv. It is also discoverable via EOSC, OpenAIRE, re3data.

Missions

Quetelet-Progedo’s mission is to enable the preservation and dissemination of data for quantitative social science research. It may be data from official statistical sources as well as research data. It therefore facilitates the implementation of national and European open data policies. Quetelet-Progedo strives to make data FAIR and ensures that they are of high quality. To this end, Quetelet-Progedo:

  • documents the data in accordance with international standards for metadata (DDI) and distributes them in formats that facilitate their reuse (.csv, .sas, .dat, sav);
  • preserves the data and its integrity via proven technical solutions, including the use of the CC-IN2P3 data centre, for which access has been provided by Huma-NumIR*;
  • ensures the long-term identification of data through the allocation of Digital Object Identifiers (DOI);
  • supports users, both in depositing and accessing data, through its dedicated team and all the University Platforms for Data;
  • promotes ethical principles and compliance with legal requirements, paying particular attention to the protection of personal and sensitive data.

Target audience

All data are intended for the scientific community: researchers, professors, PhD candidates and students.

Data access rights are granted within the framework of current legislation, depending on the research purpose specified by the user.

Public agencies, ministerial statistical services and researchers can request to deposit their data with Quetelet-Progedo.
